The Insider: Loft Dweller in Wallabout

HARD BY THE BROOKLYN NAVY YARD, in a rented top floor loft in a former warehouse, Alina Preciado has built and salvaged her way to a unique space with rustic/industrial character. It was the subject of my Insider column last week on, and I don’t know why it got only two comments, but I think it’s a beautiful and inviting home. Go here to read the whole thing.

Great use of furniture and built-ins to transform a rental.
I love the solution for the bedroom, cozy if you want to be cozy and a brilliant way to reduce the heating bill.
Now in the summer . . . those huge southwest windows must be killer. Hope she has curtains and a Pratt and Whitney powered ceiling fan!

    Cara –
I love your Insider posts. You always manage to find the coolest spaces. However I cannot understand how you put up with the Brownstoner crowd (let alone find homeowners to be the latest victims). Brownstoner readers have got to be the most bitter, mean spirited, vitriolic folks on the planet. Is that what living in New York does to a person?

I don’t pay that much attention, Frank! Let them have their fun. There is usually a range of opinion.
